Gillingham Dealer Caught Hiding Heroin and Crack in Tomato Soup Can
Abdul Dahir, a Gillingham drug dealer, has been jailed for seven and a half years after police found class A drugs stuffed inside a novelty tomato soup tin. The 29-year-old was caught during a planned raid at a St Andrews Road address earlier this year.
Drama Unfolds as Drug Stash Thrown from Window
During the early morning raid on 20 March 2019, officers saw co-defendant Benedict Erskine, 22, hurl the tomato soup can containing heroin and crack cocaine out of a bedroom window before jumping out himself. Erskine tried to escape but was quickly caught in a nearby alleyway. Dahir was found hiding in the same bedroom.
£10,610 Worth of Drugs Seized
- 42 grams of crack cocaine and 50 grams of heroin found inside the soup can
- About 100 packets and 50 capsules of class A drugs recovered outside the property
- Additional items seized: cash, six mobile phones, and drug dealing paraphernalia
The street value of the drugs exceeded £10,600.
Justice Served for Medway’s Vulnerable
“This warrant was one of a series of raids carried out in Medway as part of our ongoing crackdown on knife crime and associated offences, such as supplying drugs. It has resulted in a prolific drug dealer being put behind bars and safely away from being able to exploit vulnerable people in our communities,” said Detective Inspector Kris Eberlein.
Dahir denied the charges of possession with intent to supply class A drugs but was found guilty by a Maidstone Crown Court jury on 6 December 2019. He was sentenced on Friday 13 December. Co-defendant Erskine pleaded guilty earlier and awaits sentencing.
