Brutal Bromley Murder: Man Jailed for at Least 30 Years

Kevin Lusala Locked Up for Savage Stabbing

Kevin Lusala, 23, from Orpington, has been sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison for the ruthless murder of 22-year-old Ayodeji Habeeb Azeez in Bromley. The Old Bailey handed down the sentence on Monday, 6 January, after Lusala was found guilty of the horrific attack.

Alongside the murder charge, Lusala was also convicted of conspiring to rob Ayodeji, receiving a 12-year sentence to run concurrently. Three other defendants stood trial alongside him.

Co-Conspirators Face Justice

  • Chaise Gray, 24, from SE25, was jailed for 10 years after being convicted of conspiracy to rob but cleared of murder charges.
  • A 17-year-old girl implicated in the plot received a three-year youth referral order, also guilty of conspiring to rob but not murder.
  • An 18-year-old man (17 at the time) was found not guilty on all counts.

Chilling Details of the Attack

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell called the crime “truly shocking.” He revealed how Ayodeji was lured to a Bromley car park under false pretences by the female defendant, only to be ambushed by Lusala and his gang.

Lusala was armed with a large knife and stabbed Ayodeji multiple times while he sat in his car. Gray then drove off in Ayodeji’s BMW before abandoning it nearby. Despite his injuries, Ayodeji managed to stagger to a nearby home on Samos Road, alerting the residents before collapsing.

Fatal Aftermath and Investigation

Emergency services responded promptly, but Ayodeji was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after midnight on 5 November 2018. Forensics found his blood at the scene and inside the victim’s car. A post-mortem confirmed Ayodeji suffered 16 stab wounds, resulting in massive internal and external bleeding.

“Lusala is facing the next 30 years in prison for his role in taking a young man’s life,” DCI Cranwell said. “I would again like to thank his family who have shown such courage during the course of the investigation.”
