Man Found Dead on Wimbledon Road – Police Hunt Blue Lorry Driver
Detectives launched an investigation after a man’s body was discovered on a road in Wimbledon early Tuesday morning.
Body Found in the Road
Police were called to Durnsford Road, SW19, at around 5:40am on 21 January following reports of a body in the street. Emergency services, including officers and the London Ambulance Service" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">London Ambulance Service, attended the scene, where medics pronounced the man dead.
CCTV Footage Spurs Police Search
Officers have reviewed CCTV footage and are urgently seeking the driver of a blue-curtained Volvo articulated lorry connected to the incident. So far, the circumstances are not being treated as suspicious.
Official Statement from the Met
“This is being treated as a collision and a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine cause of death,” said Detective Sergeant Andy Russell of the Met’s South West Area Roads & Transport Policing team. “We are working to trace the man’s next of kin.”
“This tragic incident has caused local disruption. We thank residents for their co-operation. Durnsford Road between Plough Lane and Penwith Road has been closed for several hours and will reopen as soon as possible.”
