Drama at Longfield Station as Man Threatens to Jump on Tracks

Police were scrambled to Longfield Station after reports of a distressed man on the overbridge who ripped down a large road sign and threatened to jump onto the railway tracks. The emergency call came in just after 11:30pm on Friday night.

Trains Halted and Power Cut as Police Respond

To keep everyone safe, power was switched off and all trains in the area came to a halt. Both British Transport Police and Kent Police rushed to the scene to deal with the tense situation.

Man Detained Under Mental Health Act

After around 80 minutes, officers detained the man at the station under the Mental Health Act. A train stuck at Longfield was delayed during this time, causing disruption for passengers.

Passengers Redirected with Replacement Buses

Southeastern Trains confirmed they arranged buses to help stranded travellers continue their journeys after the lengthy hold-up.
