Suspicious Fire Rips Through Canterbury Nature Spot
Kent Police are hunting for answers after a fire tore through Hambrook Marshes, Canterbury. The blaze, which broke out between 3pm and 3.30pm on Thursday 19 March 2020, destroyed a wooden platform used for pond-dipping.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene and doused the flames. Thankfully, no one was hurt. However, police are treating the fire as suspicious and want the public’s help.
Two Boys Spotted Near Scene
Officers have released descriptions of two boys seen near the fire at the crucial time. They’re keen to speak to anyone who might know them or witnessed the incident.
- Boy One: White, aged 12-16, slim build with light brown hair. He wore a black hoodie featuring a white Puma logo and black trousers or jeans.
- Boy Two: White, mid to late teens, athletic build with short dark brown hair. He wore a blue long-sleeved top with a small white logo on the top left.
