Two arrested after deadly stabbing of teen in Westminster

Detectives have made two arrests in connection with the fatal stabbing of 18-year-old Ahmed Yasin-Ali in West London.

Tragic stabbing rocks Elmfield Way

Ahmed Yasin-Ali was found with fatal stab wounds on Elmfield Way, W9, near Harrow Road shortly after midnight on Wednesday. The teen, who dreamed of university and a bright future, died at the scene.

A murder investigation kicked off immediately. On Friday (17 July), police arrested a 23-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder. Both are now in police custody.

Police appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage

Detective Chief Inspector Vicky Tunstall urged locals to come forward with any information about the stabbing or unusual activity on Elmfield Way or nearby Harrow Road between 11.45pm and 12.30am on Tuesday night.

“If you were driving on Harrow Road around that time and have dashcam footage, no matter what, we want to hear from you,” said DCI Tunstall. “Even if you didn’t see anything suspicious, your footage could be vital.”

She added the force is working closely with local police to keep the community safe and stressed the importance of public cooperation.

Family heartbreak and call for peace

Ahmed’s family described him as a “caring, loving” young man loved by all who knew him.

“He was striving hard in school and work to attend university and give our family a better life,” they said.

They appealed against retaliation or revenge, highlighting Ahmed as a victim of youth violence.

“We forgive those responsible and ask the community to do the same,” the family said. “He will forever be our neighbourhood hero.”
