Paramedics Stabbed on Job Praise Lifesaving Colleagues
Two brave paramedics stabbed while answering a 999 call in Wolverhampton have today thanked their colleagues for stepping in and saving their lives.
Knife Attack Shocks Wolverhampton Ambulance Crew
Michael Hipgrave and Deena Evans were attending a patient on Stephens Close on Monday 6th July when the horrific attack happened. Both suffered serious stab wounds and were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for emergency treatment.
Emotional Toll on Team and Friends
Since the shocking ordeal, Michael and Deena have been flooded with messages of support from fellow NHS workers and the public alike.
Deena Evans said: “We do have medical knowledge, so to hear what’s happening and not be able to do anything is scary. When it happened, I kept thinking, how are my colleagues feeling? They’re our friends. It’s been really difficult for us all.”
Michael Hipgrave added: “We had a very emotional meeting with the staff involved, with lots of tears and questions. Being clinicians and friends made it doubly hard for everyone.”
Despite the trauma, both paramedics remain determined and in good spirits as they continue their recovery.
