Blaze Breaks Out in Reading Stockroom – 20 Firefighters Rush In

Firefighters Battle Stockroom Inferno

Twenty firefighters raced to tackle a fierce blaze that erupted in a stockroom early Wednesday morning. Engines from across Reading and Wokingham were scrambled at just before 10am, the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.

Shopfront Damaged but Owners Determined

The shocked shop owners revealed the fire damaged both their stockroom and the store’s frontage. But they vowed to bounce back and continue serving their local community.

Cause of Fire Under Investigation

The cause of the fire remains a mystery as officials investigate. A spokesperson for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue said:

“At 9.57am on Wednesday, we received reports of a fire at a commercial property in Whitley Wood Lane, Reading. Crews from Whitley Wood, Caversham Road, Dee Road, and Wokingham, plus an officer, were sent immediately.”

“On arrival, firefighters found the blaze on the ground floor. Ten firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three hose reels to knock it down. They stayed on the scene for around three and a half hours.”

Roads Cordoned Off as Fire Raged

Parts of the roundabout linking Whitley Wood Lane and Whitley Wood Road were cordoned off during the emergency, causing local delays.
