Police have seized an electronic scooter today under s165 Road Traffic Act. This follows multiple complaints regarding their use in and around Chelmsford.

The rider has also been reported for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and no insurance.

The rules for private e-scooters have not changed, they are treated as any other motor vehicle and must conform to all road traffic laws including the need for insurance and a driving licence.

If you use an e-scooter illegally:

you could face a fine
you could get penalty points on your licence
the e-scooter could be impounded
