Fire Rips Through Disused Pub in Chadwell Heath
Chaos broke out on Chadwell Heath’s High Road early this morning as a fire tore through a disused pub, destroying most of the two-storey building. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters rushed to the scene.
Bus Driver’s Quick Thinking Sparks Emergency Response
A bus driver spotted thick smoke and flames billowing from the building while driving past. He immediately alerted Transport for London (TfL), who then contacted the London Fire Brigade. Fire crews arrived to see smoke choking the road.
Hours of Fierce Flames and High-Tech Tactics
The fire rapidly spread from a corner of the roof to engulf the entire pub. Firefighters battled the blaze for hours, using drones to get a bird’s-eye view and target hotspots. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Cause of Blaze Remains a Mystery
The London Fire Brigade’s investigation team could not determine the cause due to the severe damage. A Brigade spokesperson reminded the public: “Always call 999 first if you see a fire or an emergency situation – so that we can get to it quickly and save lives. Alert other authorities or property owners afterwards.”
The call came in at 4.47am, and the fire was under control by 7.17am. Fire crews from Dagenham, Ilford, Romford, Hainault, Barking, and East Ham stations all pitched in to tackle the blaze.
