Man Arrested After Overnight Car Fire Spree in Folkestone and Hythe
A 54-year-old man has been nabbed on suspicion of arson, assaulting a police officer, and driving drunk following a series of vehicle fires that rocked Folkestone and Hythe in the early hours.
Multiple Car Fires Blaze Through Streets
Between 2:00 AM and 3:30 AM, fire crews rushed to several vehicle infernos across Canterbury Road, Walton Road, Military Road, Enbrook Valley, and Whitenbrook.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service battled the flames through the night, saving nearby properties. Several vehicles were badly damaged, but thankfully, there were no injuries reported.
Quick Police Action Sees Suspect in Custody
Kent Police swiftly arrested a man from Folkestone linked to the fires. The suspect allegedly assaulted a police officer during his arrest and was also caught driving under the influence.
He remains in custody as detectives continue their enquiries.
