Burglar Caught on CCTV After Raiding Businesses Across Kent
Tony Jackson’s Crime Spree Uncovered
Tony Jackson, 51, was nailed on CCTV breaking into multiple companies. He’s now locked up for three years and 10 months at Canterbury Crown Court.
Jackson, from Redbridge Close, Chatham, denied five burglary charges. But on 9 October 2020, a jury found him guilty after a trial.
Heavily Targeted Businesses Between December and February
- 6 December 2019: Caught on camera smashing glass to break into a Folkestone office at Shearway Business Park. He made off with a large cash haul.
- 28 December 2019: Broke into a Folkestone firm on Caesar’s Way via a window, stealing a hefty amount of cash from a safe.
- 15 February 2020: Hit two Sittingbourne businesses on Bingham Road by smashing front doors. Stole a drill and cash in separate raids.
- 21 February 2020: Burgled a Rochester business on maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Road at 3.39am, nicking a drill, money, and a ladder.
Caught, Charged, and Sentenced
Police pieced together evidence from CCTV and vehicle checks placing Jackson at all the scenes. He was arrested on 25 February 2020.
Officers found Jackson’s car nearby at the time of the offences and recovered bright orange hi-vis jackets he was seen wearing during the Rochester break-in.
Detective Constable Nicola Emery said: “Jackson specifically targeted premises at times he believed they would be empty. During the burglaries he caused significant damage, resulting in thousands of pounds spent securing the premises. His sentence sends a clear message that this crime won’t be tolerated.”
