Teen Terror Suspect Busted in Wednesbury

A 19-year-old man from Wednesbury is facing serious terrorism charges after being arrested by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.

Seven Terrorism Charges

Nuh Raheel was charged on Sunday, 18 October with seven counts of possessing articles for terrorist purposes. These charges fall under section 57 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Held in Custody Ahead of Court Appearance

Raheel was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 19 October. The arrest came after a police swoop on Tuesday, 13 October, when Raheel was detained in Wednesbury under section 41 of the Terrorism Act.

Joint Police Operation

The Met’s Counter Terrorism Command worked alongside West Midlands Counter Terrorism Police for the arrest. After being taken to a south London station, officers secured a further detention warrant on Wednesday, 14 October, allowing them to hold Raheel until 20 October.
