Sergeant Paul Downes: ‘Metal Theft Hits Communities Hard’
“Metal theft can affect a variety of sectors including heritage sites, telecommunications, transport and power. It disrupts not just business but also those they service within our communities,” said Sergeant Paul Downes. “This week of action is part of our ongoing effort to raise awareness and target this crime nationally.”
Police urge the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity by calling 101 or visiting essex.police.uk. Intelligence-sharing with partners is crucial to shutting down metal theft gangs for good.
