Thug Jailed for Kicking Cop Down Stairs After Burglary
Burglary and Assault Lands Man Behind Bars
Andre Bailey, 38, with no fixed address, was locked up at Southwark Crown Court via video link on Friday, 16 October. He pleaded guilty to burglary and assaulting an emergency worker.
The court handed down tough sentences: four years for burglary, reduced to three thanks to his guilty plea, plus nine months for assaulting the officer, cut to six months. Both sentences will run consecutively.
Breaking and Entering at a 90-Year-Old’s Home
The drama unfolded around 2pm on Wednesday, 16 September, when police rushed to a Charing Cross Road flat. Bailey had broken into the home of a 90-year-old woman, who was thankfully not there.
Police caught him lurking in the communal area. When officers tried to arrest him, Bailey kicked one officer in the chest, sending her tumbling down a flight of stairs and banging her head on a wall. She suffered minor injuries but was fortunate not to be more seriously hurt.
Officer Slams Bailey’s Violent Outburst
The officer called for backup, used CS spray to subdue Bailey, and he was promptly arrested.
During questioning, Bailey admitted assaulting the officer but showed zero remorse. Detective Constable Nigel Pacquette said, “Bailey did everything he could to obstruct the officer in her lawful duty to arrest him. She was lucky not to have been seriously injured.”
He added: “This case highlights the real risks police face daily and the courage officers show. This behaviour is absolutely unacceptable and won’t be tolerated.”
