Paedophile Brian Willoughby Jailed 21 Years for Raping Girl, 11-14

Brian Willoughby, 51, from Keighley, has been locked up for 21 years after being found guilty of multiple sex offences against a young girl. The horrifying abuse took place between 2000 and 2003 when the victim was just 11 to 14 years old.

Victim Shows Incredible Bravery After Years of Silence

After suffering in silence, the victim first disclosed the abuse in 2005. It wasn’t until 2014 that she felt strong enough to report Willoughby to the police. This led to his arrest and charges for rape and several indecent assaults.

Judge Slams Willoughby, Verdict Brings Closure

On 3 December at Bradford Crown Court, Willoughby was given a life-long Sexual Harm Prevention Order alongside his lengthy sentence. Detective Constable Donna Hector praised the victim’s courage, saying:

“She is truly remarkable and has not only endured abuse throughout her childhood but was forced to endure a gruelling court case where she had to give evidence and relive her trauma.”

Police Urge Other Victims to Speak Out

Detective Hector urged others suffering abuse to come forward, promising support and justice:

“You will be listened to and be given the help and support you need. We have specially trained officers who will work tirelessly to bring any perpetrators to justice.”
