Met Police Officer Dragged in High-Speed Chase – Suspect Faces Serious Charges
Veran Whiskey, 39, from Edenvale Street, SW6, is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 25 January. He faces multiple charges, including grievous bodily harm with intent, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, dangerous driving, and possession of criminal property.
High-Speed Police Chase Ends in Crash
On Saturday, 23 January, around 4:06pm, officers from the Met’s Territorial Support Group stopped a vehicle on Swanscombe Road, St Anns Villas, W11. The suspect vehicle attempted to flee, dragging an officer along in the process.
The car then crashed into a police vehicle and several other cars before finally coming to a halt.
Officer Hospitalised But Expected to Recover
The injured officer was rushed to hospital. Thankfully, his injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.
Whiskey, the vehicle’s occupant, was treated for a head injury at hospital before being taken into custody. He was later charged with the serious offences listed above.
Another Man Caught Up in the Drama
Another passenger who jumped out of the vehicle when it was stopped was also arrested. Imran Khan, 44, of Queensale Crescent, W11, was charged with possession of a Class B controlled drug.
He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court the same day as Whiskey.
