Masked Arsonists Torch Family’s Car in Shocking South London Attack
Shocking CCTV footage showing The Smithy family’s car being set on fire has been shared over 3.8 million times. The blaze took place on a South London driveway late Wednesday night.
Two Men Caught on Camera Pouring Flammable Liquid
Two masked men were caught on CCTV approaching the family’s 2017 Ford S-Max. One carried a screwdriver and tried to force open the back window. Another was seen pouring a flammable liquid onto the car before setting it alight.
Firefighters from London Fire Brigade rushed 20 crews to the scene. Flames were seen flying from the driver’s side window, which was already open, confirming eyewitness claims that the car was unlocked.
“This terrifying arson attack could have killed us all,” said father Nick Smith to their 2.5 million social media followers. “Two people were responsible. We know who they are.”
Campaign of Intimidation Leads to Dangerous Blaze
The Smithy family has been subjected to a disturbing three-month campaign of harassment, involving nearly 100 takeaway deliveries in one day and prostitutes sent to their door. Damage was already evident on the car’s front window before the fire began.
The heat from the blaze destroyed the front door, melted windows, CCTV cameras, and guttering, blackening the entire front of the property with smoke.
