Croydon Man Found Dead in London Street

Detectives have named the victim found on New Park Road, SW2, as Mauricio “Maurice” Nascimento, 44, from Croydon. Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at around 6.55am on Monday, 12 July, after Mr. Nascimento’s body was discovered.

His family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers. Formal identification is pending. A post-mortem at Greenwich Mortuary revealed the provisional cause of death as multiple injuries.

Police Hunt for Clues in Mauricio’s Death

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, leading the probe, urged the public to come forward. “If you saw Mauricio from the evening of Sunday, 11 July, into Monday morning, or have information about what happened, please get in touch,” he said.

Four Men Arrested and Released in Murder Inquiry

  • A 48-year-old man was arrested on 14 July but released with no further action.
  • A 45-year-old man was arrested on 16 July and released on bail, due back mid-August.
  • A 34-year-old man was arrested on 17 July and also released on bail, due mid-August.
  • A 28-year-old man was arrested on 29 July and released on bail, due back late August.

All four were held on suspicion of murder but remain free as investigations continue.
