Jahrell Warren Jailed After Stealing Van and Attacking Cop
Jahrell Warren, 31, of Manor Road, Dagenham, was locked up for eight months after a wild ride that ended in a police confrontation. The Harrow Crown Court heard how Warren admitted multiple offences including aggravated vehicle taking, assault on an emergency worker, criminal damage, and several driving violations.
Van Theft Ends in Crash and Police Chase
Warren used a skeleton ignition key to nick a Ford Transit van from a driveway in Stanwell, Surrey, on 4 July. The very next day, the stolen van smashed into another vehicle on the A10, Great Cambridge Road, Enfield. Instead of stopping, Warren fled the scene, leaving the other driver stranded.
Cop Faceplants After Headbutt
The police tracked the van to Linden Avenue, where an officer approached to make the arrest. Warren refused to stay put and tried to bolt through the driver’s door. Cuffed and caught, he then headbutted the officer, cutting his lip.
Custody Chaos and Police Van Damage
In the custody van, Warren urinated, forcing the vehicle out of commission for deep cleaning. Despite pressure, he refused to give breath samples to check if he was over the limit. PC Matthew Olive slammed Warren’s reckless behaviour:
“Assaults on police officers in the line of duty will not be tolerated, and I am glad Jahrell Warren will now spend time in jail. By stealing the van and crashing it, he showed a complete disregard for the safety of the public. The damage he caused to the police van further illustrates his contempt for public property. Credit to the arresting officer who chased and detained Warren.”
