Teen Targeted in Shocking Attempted Kidnap on Solomon Road
A terrifying attempted kidnap unfolded on Solomon Road between 9am and 9.30am on Wednesday, 6 October 2021.
Suspect Tries to Drag Teen Into Black Mercedes Estate
The suspect, described as a black man wearing a grey hooded jumper and black tracksuit bottoms, approached a teenage girl and placed his hand on her arm. He urged her to get into his black Mercedes estate car.
The quick-thinking teen told him to leave her alone. When she warned she would call the police, the man jumped back into his vehicle and drove off. Thankfully, the girl escaped without injury.
Man Arrested and Released on Bail
Kent Police arrested a 35-year-old man from Gillingham on suspicion of attempted kidnap on 9 October. He has now been released on conditional bail until 6 November while investigations continue.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detective Inspector Martin Davies of the Kent Police Vulnerability Investigation Team spoke out:
“We understand why this will cause concern to parents and local residents. This is an isolated incident not linked to any other reports. We’re supporting the victim and have spoken to several witnesses, but we believe more people could help.”
Officers want residents, businesses, and motorists who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the area between 9am and 10am on 6 October to get in touch.
