A woman has been sprayed with a “noxious substance” in Brasslands Drive in Portslade this morning, Sussex Police said.
She has been taken to hospital after the attack by a man who had knocked at her door, police said.
Officers from Sussex Police are working with Detectives on a motive.
A crime scene remains in place.
The woman has been treated by Paramedics from South East coast ambulance service.
