Blazing Inferno Rips Through London Building
Half the basement and part of the ground floor went up in flames in a fierce fire overnight. Firefighters made a daring rescue, pulling a woman from a basement window at the back of the building. She was rushed to hospital by Ambulance Service crews.
Fire Under Control After Hours of Battle
The blaze broke out just before 1am, with the Brigade called at 12.47am. Firefighters finally got it under control by 1.44pm, after a gruelling fight. Teams from Woodside, Croydon, Beckenham, West Norwood, Norbury, and Forest Hill stations all battled the flames.
Cause of Fire Under Investigation
The cause is still a mystery. Both the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service are investigating. Details are expected soon as they piece together what sparked the blaze.
