Police were contacted by the ambulance service at 10.17pm yesterday evening requesting our assistance at an incident outside The Terrace Sports Bar on Fossgate in York.
A 46-year-old man had been assaulted outside the bar on the street. We arrested a 38-year-old man at the scene, he remains in police custody.
The victim currently remains in a critical condition at hospital. His family are being supported by specially trained police officers.
CCTV shows several people on the street at time of the incident.
