Pub Boss Jailed for Sick Child Sex Crimes
Carl Marland, landlord of The Chequers pub in Ilford, London, was locked up yesterday after being found guilty of over 20 horrendous offences. The shocking verdict came following a trial at Manchester Crown Court in October 2021.
Horrific Abuse Covered Months
Marland preyed on girls aged 8 to 16, travelling regularly from London to Manchester between June and December 2020 to carry out his vile attacks. He groomed them with gifts, cash, drugs, and alcohol before abusing them in his car and other locations.
Disturbingly, he even secretly filmed one girl while she undressed. One of the victims had a bank account set up by Marland, who transferred nearly £3,000 to her.

- Sexual assault of a child under 13 (x5)
- Assault of a child by penetration
- Voyeurism (x2)
- Making indecent images of a child (x2)

Police Crack Case After Message Discovery
Police caught wind of Marland’s depravity when a girl’s mother found sleazy messages on her phone in November 2020. GMP Rochdale’s Child Sexual Exploitation Team collaborated with the Metropolitan Police to arrest Marland in January 2021.
Justice has finally caught up with the villainous pub boss. He now faces a lengthy prison sentence for his appalling crimes against children.
