Birmingham Man Jailed Over Prison Drug Smuggling
Judah Morton-Wade, 42, from Hagley Road, Birmingham, has been locked up for over five years for smuggling drugs into prison. Warwickshire Crown Court sentenced him to five years and two months on Wednesday (18 May) after he was found guilty of supplying Class A and Class B drugs.
Drugs Hidden in Package at HMP Dovegate
Morton-Wade concealed 9.68 grams of cocaine and 23.6 grams of cannabis inside a small white package. He smuggled it into HMP Dovegate in July 2018 during a visit. The package was handed to an inmate during the arranged meeting – all caught on CCTV.
£2,150 Worth of Drugs Seized
The drugs inside the package were valued at around £2,150. Officers acting quickly halted the deal before the drugs could circulate inside the prison walls.
Detective Constable Laura Board, leading the case, said: “Eagle-eyed officers managed to seize the drug package before it could be brought into circulation in our prison. I am thankful that Morton-Wade was apprehended and I am pleased that justice has been delivered.”
