Paedophile George Smith Jailed for Raping Girl Under 13
George Smith, 65, has been locked up after being found guilty of four shocking sex offences involving a child under 13. The sick predator, from Salmons Road, Odiham, Hampshire, abused the young victim last year.
Judge Slams Smith’s ‘Deviant and Perverted’ Behaviour
At Winchester Crown Court on Friday, May 27, Judge Andrew Barnett branded Smith’s actions “not only shocking but quite unforgivable. He described the crimes as “deviant and perverted behaviour towards that little girl”.
Smith denied the charges but was convicted by a jury of:
- Rape of a child under 13
- Two counts of sexual assault on a child under 13
- Causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
Victim’s Family Watch Monster Sentenced
The victim’s family attended court to see Smith sentenced. In a powerful victim impact statement, the girl’s mother said: “George’s evil intentions and actions towards [her daughter] are impossible to explain to anyone.”
She added: “Her innocence has been taken away from her. Her bravery in speaking out means that monster will no longer be able to hurt anyone else.”
Extended Licence and Lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order
Although Smith was cleared of possessing prohibited images on his computer, Judge Barnett noted “a number of images touching upon the concerning subject of young girls,” reflecting “what was going on in your warped mind”.
Smith was handed a prison term with a four-year extended licence. The judge warned he remains a “danger to the public”. Smith also received an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order to keep him away from children.
