Teen Held for Attempted Murder After Brutal Park Attack
16-Year-Old Charged Following Skatepark Assault
A 16-year-old boy is in custody, charged with attempted murder after a shocking attack at Grosvenor and Hilbert Park. The violent incident happened around 2.30pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, while an 18-year-old victim and his friends were playing football in the skatepark.
The victim was rushed to a London hospital with serious injuries but has since been released.
Additional Arrests and Court Dates
The suspect is set to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on July 4th. Police also arrested four other teenage boys linked to the incident. These teens have been bailed and are due to face court appearances.
Police Hunt for Witnesses and CCTV Footage
Detective Inspector Jim Farley said: “This area is generally very safe and popular, and while we are treating the assault as an isolated incident, we believe there may be witnesses who haven’t come forward yet.”
He urged anyone with information, no matter how small, to contact police. “Even minor details can help our investigation.“
Residents near the park are urged to check doorbell or security camera footage that might shed light on the attack.
