Multiple Fire Crews Rush to the Scene

West Midlands Fire and Rescue scrambled three fire crews from Handsworth and Smethwick, plus their Technical Rescue Unit, to tackle the blaze.

Shop Front Blown Out, Rear Wall Collapses

The blast blew out the shop’s front window and caused the rear wall to collapse. A man suffered burns and was rushed to hospital by ambulance.

Firefighters heroically led three people to safety from a first-floor flat above the shop.

Safety Checks Underway

A structural engineer was called in to assess the building’s stability. Utility companies are working to cut off power and gas supplies to prevent further risk.

The exact cause of the explosion remains unknown as investigations continue.
