Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Soldier Stabbed in Gillingham
Detectives have charged a man with attempted murder following the vicious stabbing of a soldier in Gillingham.
Stabbing Incident Shakes Sally Port Gardens
Kent Police rushed to Sally Port Gardens at 5.55pm on Tuesday 23 July 2024 after reports a man in his 40s was seriously assaulted. The victim suffered stab wounds and was quickly taken to hospital. His condition is now serious but stable.
Suspect Arrested Near Rochester Home
Anthony Esan, 24, was arrested just 35 minutes after the attack near his home on Mooring Road, Rochester. He has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in public.
Next Steps: Court Appearance Set
Esan is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 25 July. Police continue to investigate as the community reels from the brutal attack.

Brooke George, 23, is facing the death penalty by firing squad if convicted of murdering fellow Brit Bill Treeby, 26, after meeting him online. The former John Lewis shop assistant, who has about 100,000 followers on TikTok, is reported to have travelled to the UAE after meeting Treeby on Facebook, where he is said to have organised a photoshoot. The Mirror can reveal that he was convicted of unlawful wounding and common assault at Maidstone Crown Court in December 2023, in relation to an attack on a woman and a man. Treeby was sentenced to 14 months in prison, suspended for two years, a court official confirmed. She said her first visit to the country lasted about a week and was positive, describing it as “the time of my life”. However, on her second trip to Dubai in June, she allegedly accused him of booking her a one-way ticket, taking her passport and attacking her when she asked for it back.
