Woman Stabbed in Ilford as Police Hunt Cyclist Attacker
Police raced to St Johns Road, Ilford, on Friday 8 June at around 8.05pm after reports of a stabbing. They found a 27-year-old woman with stab wounds to her back. Thankfully, her injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing, police say.
Man on Bike Flees Scene – Police Launch Hunt
The attacker, a man on a bicycle, fled towards Buxton Road immediately after the assault. Detectives from the Met’s East Area CID are urgently chasing leads and scouring CCTV footage to catch the suspect.
“I know this attack, so soon after Zara Aleena’s tragic murder, will worry Londoners, especially in Ilford,” said Chief Inspector Chris Byrne. “We share those concerns and are doing everything to keep the community safe.”
Increased Police Presence in Wake of Recent Violence
Following Zara Aleena’s murder two weeks ago, police have upped patrols in the Ilford area. Additional officers, including crime specialists, have been deployed and will remain visible over the weekend and beyond.
So far, no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
