The attacker, a man on a bicycle, fled towards Buxton Road immediately after the assault. Detectives from the Met’s East Area CID are urgently chasing leads and scouring CCTV footage to catch the suspect.

“I know this attack, so soon after Zara Aleena’s tragic murder, will worry Londoners, especially in Ilford,” said Chief Inspector Chris Byrne. “We share those concerns and are doing everything to keep the community safe.”

Increased Police Presence in Wake of Recent Violence

Following Zara Aleena’s murder two weeks ago, police have upped patrols in the Ilford area. Additional officers, including crime specialists, have been deployed and will remain visible over the weekend and beyond.
