20 Fire Engines Battle Huge Grass Fire
Emergency crews are battling a massive grass fire on Pea Lane, Upminster. Around 20 fire engines and 180 firefighters have been deployed to tackle the inferno.
Three Hectares of Cornfield and Scrubland Ablaze
The blaze has engulfed about three hectares of cornfield and scrubland. Thick smoke is drifting across the nearby M25, causing visibility concerns for drivers.
Fire Brigade Flooded with Calls
Since the fire was reported at 11:23am, fire brigade’s 999 Control Officers have received over 80 emergency calls about the blaze. Crews from Hornchurch, Harold Hill, Wennington, and Essex Fire and Rescue are all on the scene fighting the flames.
