On Friday, August 5, at 2.31pm, police received multiple 999 calls about a man with a firearm in Creek Road, SE8.
Officers with firearms responded to the scene. The man was apprehended. A police firearm was discharged, injuring the man with a gunshot wound.
The London Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance were also present. He was treated on the scene before being transported to the hospital. We are waiting for an update on his condition.
There have been no other reports of injuries. Significant cordons have been erected. We ask that the public avoid the area.
The investigation is just getting started. There does not appear to be a continuing threat to the general public at this time.
The Professional Standards Directorate has been notified.
