Police Sergeant Found Guilty of Sexual Assault on London Tube
Police Sergeant Tristan Davis has been found guilty of three counts of sexual assault at Inner London Crown Court. Sentencing is set for 18 November.
Escalator Assault Sparks Outrage
On 23 April 2021, Davis sexually assaulted a fellow officer on an escalator at London Bridge Station. The pair were returning from a night out with colleagues when the attack began.
The assault continued on the same train, with Davis making two further unwanted advances despite the victim’s repeated attempts to push him away. The victim was forced to stand in the aisle to escape his behaviour.
Victim’s Courage Leads to Justice
The victim promptly reported the incident to the British Transport Police’s Professional Standards Department. Davis was immediately suspended and a criminal probe launched.
During his police interview, Davis shockingly tried to brush off his actions as “playful”.
BTP Slams Davis, Pledges Tough Action
Deputy Chief Constable Alistair Sutherland said: “Tristan Davis does not represent the values of BTP officers. Thanks to the victim coming forward, we launched a thorough investigation to bring him before the courts.”
“Behaviour like this is not ‘playful’ – it is a serious criminal offence and will always be treated as such. Incidents like this damage public confidence in policing, and we will relentlessly challenge any officer who breaks the law or falls short of our high standards.”
A fast-track misconduct hearing will now decide Davis’s future with the force.
