Charity Cash Swipe Shock: Longtime Wessex 1 Trust manager Paula Tribbeck, 48, has been locked up for two years after stealing nearly £94,000 from the charity she worked for.

Trusted Manager Turns Thief

Paula Tribbeck, from Southampton, held the reins in the financial department at Wessex 1 Trust for 27 years. With access to multiple bank accounts, she abused her position, funneling charity money into her own pockets.

Nearly £94K Stolen Over 6 Years

From 2013 to late 2019, Tribbeck moved roughly £93,813 in fraudulent transactions. She cunningly disguised the theft by using the names of suppliers the trust actually paid.

Audit Sparks Downfall

In August 2019, an auditor spotted red flags in the accounts. When confronted, Tribbeck broke down, blaming personal issues. Shortly after, she quit ahead of a disciplinary hearing and was arrested the next year.

Confession and Consequences

A search of her home uncovered charity invoices stuffed in wardrobes. During questioning, Tribbeck admitted her crime, calling it an “addiction” and claimed no one else was involved.

DC Daryanne Ryan said: “Tribbeck abused her position of authority to steal money which should have gone towards helping people experiencing the worst time of their lives.”

“While she has shown remorse and wishes to repay the money, her selfish actions left the charity in a very difficult situation.”

“I am glad we were able to bring Tribbeck to court to face justice and hope this reassures the community that we take fraud seriously.”
