Police cops swooped on a taxi in Sutton-in-Ashfield this morning, pulling over a suspect loaded with drugs, cash, and a pellet gun.
Big Bust in Sutton-in-Ashfield
Just before 10am on Tuesday, officers from the Ashfield Operation Reacher team stopped a taxi on Leamington Drive. Inside, they found the passenger carrying a small stash of cannabis, triggering a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Cash and a Pellet Gun Seized
Things escalated when cops uncovered a large sum of cash and a gas-powered pellet gun. The 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm and a class B drug. He’s still in police custody as investigations continue.
Police Warn Over Fake Weapons
“Weapons like this may not be real firearms, but they can still cause serious harm and panic to the public,” said PC Jade Massey, Nottinghamshire Police. “I’m pleased we’ve taken this dangerous device off the streets. Let today’s stop be a warning — carrying these items in public has serious consequences.”
The seized cash is locked down in police storage until the suspect proves it’s from a legal source. Meanwhile, the pellet gun will undergo further analysis.
