Brutal Night Out Attack Lands Man Behind Bars
A man has been locked up after launching an unprovoked assault that left his victim with a double jaw fracture.
Hero Victim’s Good Deed Turns Ugly
The 36-year-old victim stepped in to stop a fight in Worthing town centre in the early hours of 7 November 2021. Instead of thanks, he was punched repeatedly in the face, suffering serious injuries.
Attacker Named and Shamed
Police identified the culprit as Liam Hall, 29, from Mendip Crescent, Salvington. Witnesses confirmed Hall was the aggressor. Officers on patrol quickly broke up the fight and arrested him on the spot.
Justice Served at Lewes Crown Court
Following the attack, the victim sought emergency dental care, only to be told to visit hospital where doctors confirmed his broken jaw. Hall faced Lewes Crown Court on 15 November and was sentenced to 20 months behind bars for grievous bodily harm.
“The victim had been enjoying a night out when he tried to stop the defendant picking a fight with his friend,” said Detective Nikki Thornton from Worthing CID. “He was assaulted trying to prevent the situation escalating and suffered significant facial injuries requiring extensive treatment – all because of one man’s reckless behaviour.
“This won’t be tolerated. We are working closely with venues and security teams across the night-time economy to catch offenders and bring them to justice.”
