Former England footballer and TV presenter Alex Scott has been announced as an ambassador for the domestic abuse charity Refuge. Scott, who has previously spoken about her own experience of domestic abuse during her childhood, has pledged to use her platform to raise awareness of domestic abuse and support victims and survivors. She will be joining Refuge in its work to help those affected by domestic violence.
Refuge, the largest specialist domestic abuse organization in the UK, provides support to survivors, helping them overcome the physical, emotional, financial, and logistical impacts of abuse. The charity operates safe houses and offers various services to help individuals rebuild their lives and live free from fear.
As an ambassador for Refuge, Scott plans to use her voice and platform to spread awareness about domestic abuse and ensure that women are aware of the support available to them. She has generously donated the profits from her book, where she opened up about her own experience of domestic abuse, directly to the charity.
In addition to her work with Refuge, Scott has also narrated a new animated Disney short film called “Ella: A Modern Day Fairytale.” The film aims to encourage young girls to try football and showcases the message that “football is for everyone.” It features England football stars Leah Williamson, Lucy Bronze, and Lauren James as animated characters, providing inspiration and support to the protagonist, Ella, as she pursues her passion for football.
By taking on the role of ambassador for Refuge and participating in initiatives like the Disney short film, Alex Scott continues to make a positive impact in raising awareness and supporting causes related to domestic abuse and empowering girls in sports.
