Runaway Shoplifter Smashes Pensioner, Jailed for 16 Months

Jordan James Bell, 25, from Christchurch Road, Winchester, was sentenced to 16 months in jail at Winchester Crown Court on Friday 14 July.

On 21 December 2022, Bell was spotted outside Westquay in Southampton. When police tried to arrest him, he bolted – crashing into a 70-year-old woman. The collision broke her humerus bone.

Multiple Shoplifting Charges Pile Up

Bell didn’t just run – he also faced 12 shoplifting charges across Winchester from 18 November 2022 to 8 February 2023, stealing over £700 worth of goods.

Guilty Pleas Land Stiff Sentence and Restraining Order

  • Bell admitted guilt for grievous bodily harm and shoplifting.
  • He got 10 months for the assault and 6 months for shoplifting, served one after the other.
  • Plus, a five-year restraining order bans him from entering Boots on Winchester High Street.
