Dartford Crossing payment shake-up starts Friday! New service boss Conduent is taking charge of vehicle IDs, payments, and account management. If you use a Dart Charge account or Pay as You Go, you MUST re-validate your payment card by July 28, 2023 – or risk a nasty Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

Don’t Get Caught Out – Act Now

National Highways has already warned affected customers. When you log into your account, you’ll find clear steps to update your payment details. Ignore it, and your crossings might not pay automatically – that’s PCNs coming your way.

Change Means Better Service (Sort of)

National Highways admits the update might be a hassle but says they’ve done their homework. “Customer research went into redesigning the system to make it easier and more user-friendly,” they claim.

While Emovis still handles enquiries and PCNs during the switch, fingers crossed the transition is smooth.

Official Says It’s All For You

Helen Watkinson, Head of Road User Charging, said: “The new service is built around customers. We’re planning more tweaks to give drivers greater flexibility and convenience.”

National Highways encourages feedback on their website to keep improving the service and keep customers happy.

Why It Matters

The Dartford Crossing, opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1991, is a key link between Kent and Essex. This payment system upgrade aims to speed things up and make life easier for drivers crossing this vital route.

Reminder: If you use the Dartford Crossing, re-validate your payment card by July 28 to avoid fines and keep your journeys hassle-free.
