Tragic Crowd Crush at Asake Gig Claims Life of Beloved Nurse Mum
Rebecca Ikumelo: A Life Cut Short
Rebecca Ikumelo, a promising nursing graduate and devoted mother of two, has died following a chaotic crowd crush outside Nigerian star Asake’s concert at the O2 Academy Brixton on December 15. Her family described her as “a sweet mother who adored working with children” and was known for her kindness and tenderness.
Rebecca’s parents lovingly gave her the Yoruba name Tosin, short for Oluwatosin, meaning “Lord is Worthy.” She was one of three people seriously injured in the rush as fans tried to force their way inside without tickets. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries after days in critical condition.
