Three Men Jailed Over Brutal Burglary on Disabled Pensioner
Amos Vincent, Amos Beaney, and William Dennard have been slammed with jail time after holding down a disabled pensioner while ransacking her home in a violent burglary last September.
Ruthless Plot to Terrorise Vulnerable Woman
Dennard drove the duo to the victim’s house in Swanscombe on 17 September 2021. Vincent and Beaney knocked on the door, claiming a suspicious car outside was linked to a break-in. They asked the pensioner for a pen and paper, then followed her inside – before Vincent suddenly shoved her to the floor.
He locked his arms around her so tightly she couldn’t move or breathe, while Beaney rifled through the house looking for valuables. The terrified victim, in her 70s, was left in pain after they fled, but managed to crawl to a chair and call 999. Her handbag, containing cash and bank cards, was stolen.
CCTV and Witnesses Seal the Case
Police tracked down a CCTV clip showing Dennard driving a suspicious van near the scene. A witness recalled spotting the vehicle on double yellow lines and saw two men acting furtively, putting on gloves as they approached the victim’s home.
Beaney, 31, of Wateringbury, and Dennard, 55, from Dartford, were arrested on 30 September. Vincent, 39, was caught on 11 October. Phone forensics proved the trio had planned the raid together.
Justice Served at Woolwich Crown Court
At Woolwich Crown Court, Beaney and Vincent pleaded guilty to burglary and robbery. Dennard admitted burglary and an unrelated dangerous driving charge. On 10 March 2022, Vincent and Beaney were sentenced to six years each behind bars, while Dennard received four years.
PC Emma Laimbeer said: “The cowardly actions of Vincent, Beaney and Dennard were clearly premeditated and utterly despicable. They preyed on a vulnerable elderly woman, leaving her with lasting terror and anxiety. Our investigation left no doubt about each man’s role. I hope these sentences bring comfort and reassurance to the victim.”
