Preston Stabbing: Four Charged in Murder of Lee Dawson

Stuart Brown, 36, and Kerry-Ann Metcalfe, 38, both from Dawson Walk, Preston, have been charged over the stabbing death of 42-year-old Lee Dawson. Brown faces murder charges, while Metcalfe is accused of assisting an offender. Both are set to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.

New Arrest and Bail Releases Shake Up Investigation

A 23-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender on Tuesday evening has been released on bail pending further inquiries. Meanwhile, a second man, a 33-year-old Preston resident, was arrested on suspicion of murder Wednesday evening and remains in custody.

  • Early hours of Friday, June 17: Emergency services called after Lee Dawson found with stab wounds on Jutland Street.
  • Dawson, originally from Preston and living in Sunderland, was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital but later died.

Additional Murder Charges and Ongoing Investigation

Earlier this week, two more men were charged with Dawson’s murder. Andrew Wilcock, 29, of Lincoln Walk, and Benjamin Bibby, 20, of Dawson Walk, appeared at Preston Magistrates’ Court Tuesday charged with murder and possessing a bladed article. They have a Crown Court hearing scheduled for Thursday.

Five other men aged 18 to 31, arrested over the weekend on suspicion of murder, have since been released on bail as police continue the probe.

“While we have charged a total of four people in connection with Mr Dawson’s death, our investigation is ongoing, and I would continue to appeal to anyone with information,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mark Haworth-Oates of Lancashire Police’s Major Investigation Team.
