Tragedy on Claremont Road: Javell Morgan Murdered
Just after midnight on Monday, August 15, 2022, police rushed to Claremont Road after reports of a serious incident. They found 20-year-old Javell Morgan with severe injuries and took him to hospital, but he was tragically pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Two Men Arrested and Charged
By Thursday, August 18, police had arrested two men in connection with Javell’s murder. Jacob Doughty, from Ponyfield Close, Huddersfield, and Simeon Baptiste, from Wellfield Bank, Huddersfield, were both charged with murder on Saturday.
The pair remain in custody and are due to appear at Manchester & Salford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 22, 2022.
Community Support and Ongoing Investigation
“Our thoughts are with Javell’s family and friends at this heartbreaking time,” said Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson. “Specially trained officers and support teams are helping his family, and police will continue to patrol the Moss Side area to reassure the community. Even with charges filed, the investigation is far from over.”
“We urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and help bring justice for Javell.”
