Brutal Robber Jailed for Four Years After Car Park Attack

Alan Hutton was locked up for four years at Newcastle Crown Court on December 23 after admitting robbery and possessing a Class C drug. The 51-year-old grabbed his victim by the neck and dragged her out of her car in a shocking attack.

Good Samaritans Step In to Stop Violent Assault

The victim had been out for dinner with a friend on October 1 and was heading to a car park on Lowrey’s Lane, Low Fell, around 8pm when the horrifying assault happened. Witnesses quickly called the police as Hutton manhandled the woman.

Thankfully, several Good Samaritans jumped in, holding Hutton down for minutes until officers arrived. He was arrested on the spot and charged within 24 hours.

Police Praise Quick Action and Community Support

I have no doubt that this was a terrifying ordeal for the victim, who was in the wrong place at the wrong time and seen as an easy target,” said Neighbourhood Inspector Kevin Ashurst of Northumbria Police.

I hope the fact Hutton is behind bars is some comfort and helps her put this horrific incident behind her. We are committed to keeping our communities safe.

Inspector Ashurst also thanked the officers for their swift response and praised the brave members of the public who helped detain Hutton and provided vital witness statements.

Police Reassure Public on Safety and Support

We never want people to put themselves at risk, but the community’s help was invaluable in this case,” added Insp Ashurst.

Our officers are always ready to respond quickly to incidents like this. We’re committed to tackling crime, supporting victims, and working closely with the criminal justice system to deliver justice.
