A Sevenoaks Burglar Who Drove Recklessly To Avoid Arrest Was Sentenced To More Than Seven Years In Prison

Shaquille Campbell broke into an address in Breething Road, Dunton Green, on November 14, 2022, while the owners were away. Following an untidy search, he stole jewellery, cash, and designer clothing.

The next day, Campbell was driving a BMW down Wested Lane in Crockenhill when a patrol officer pulled him over. Campbell did not stop and continued driving at a high rate, driving on the wrong side of the road and colliding with another vehicle. He was arrested, and officers seized a pair of stolen trainers he was wearing during the Dunton Green break-in.

Campbell was also charged with burglary between September 21 and November 5 in Cheam, Surrey, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, and Twickenham, London, according to the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad. He had also robbed the residents of the latter address. Further detective inquiries led to the recovery of some of the stolen property from the Rickmansworth burglary at a pawn shop in Shepherd’s Bush.

Campbell, formerly of Ilford, Essex, was charged with and later pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary, one count of robbery, a theft, and dangerous driving at Maidstone Crown Court. Campbell, 26, was sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. He will also be unable to drive for 18 months after his release and until he passes a re-test.

‘Campbell is a prolific criminal who stole high-value cars and designer clothing during burglaries, turning violent when disturbed by some of his victims,’ said DC Celia King. His reckless driving while attempting to elude arrest put other road users in grave danger, and he deserves to be imprisoned.’
