Man Stabbed in Brutal Gascoigne Road Attack

Emergency services rushed to Gascoigne Road, Barking, at around 1.15pm on Friday, January 27, after reports of a violent assault. A 28-year-old man was reportedly attacked by a group of men armed with knives and other weapons.

Critical Condition After Knife Attack

The London Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service arrived swiftly. The victim was stabbed during the ordeal and rushed to hospital, where his condition remains critical.

Suspect Arrested, Police Launch Investigation

Police arrested a man near the scene and have launched an urgent investigation. Officers have cordoned off the area and set up a crime scene as detectives from the East Area CID probe the violent attack.

Section 60 Order Imposed for Increased Police Powers

In response, a Section 60 order covering the IG11 postcode area has been authorised. This gives officers the power to stop and search anyone without needing reasonable suspicion, aiming to prevent further violence.

A police spokesperson said: “It was reported that he was attacked by a group of males armed with weapons, including knives. Officers were dispatched to the scene. A 28-year-old man was stabbed and taken to hospital. His health is critical.”
