Quick-thinking cops smash downpipe, uncover hidden stash of crack and heroin
Drugs Discovered in Toilet Drainpipe
Police made a daring find after smashing a hole in a toilet downpipe at a property in Findern Green, Bakersfield. Inside, officers uncovered a soggy plastic bag stuffed with crack cocaine and heroin. The discovery didn’t stop there — more drugs were recovered from a blocked sewer pipe on the premises.
Raid Reveals Drug Dealing HQ
Inside the house, officers unearthed cash, mobile phones, weighing scales, and other clear signs of drug dealing. Elijah Henry, 25, was arrested at the scene on September 19, 2019, and later charged with multiple offences. Despite initially pleading not guilty and calling for a crown court trial, Henry eventually admitted to possessing crack cocaine and heroin with intent to supply, as well as possession of criminal property.
Further Arrest and Drug Finds in 2022
Henry’s luck ran out again in July 2022 when the City Knife Crime Team found more class A drugs in his car. After Henry locked the doors and tossed the keys into a bush, officers forced entry. Inside, more crack and heroin were discovered, alongside a key to another nearby address. A search of that property revealed a large haul of drugs, phones, and dealing equipment.
Five-Year Sentence for Career Dealer
Henry refused to answer police questions but later pleaded guilty to four further Class A drug charges. On 17 February at Nottingham Crown Court, the Radford resident was sentenced to five years behind bars.
“Henry is a career criminal who tried and failed twice to outsmart police as the inevitable caught up with him,” said PC Karl Browne, involved in the initial raid. “Illegal drugs are a blight on our communities and we’re committed to removing dealers like him from our streets.”
“If you deal drugs in our community, expect to face us in your home or on the streets. We urge local residents to report drug crime — we will act.”
