Shoreham RNLI Lifeboats Rush to Three Emergencies in Just Nine Hours
Man in Water Prompts First Launch
Shoreham RNLI lifeboats were scrambled three times within nine hours from Saturday afternoon to early Sunday. The drama kicked off when the inshore lifeboat was called to rescue a man seen entering the water fully clothed near West Pier, Brighton. The crew searched the area but soon found the man safely ashore, receiving treatment from ambulance medics.
Yacht Breakdown Sparks Second Callout
Just 90 minutes later, the all-weather lifeboat was launched after reports of a broken-down 34ft yacht off Brighton. The vessel had already made its way into Shoreham Harbour, where a local fishing boat towed it through the harbour locks. The lifeboat stood by during the tow before the yacht was safely berthed – no rescue needed.
Early Morning Water Incident Near Worthing Pier
Shortly after midnight on Sunday, the inshore lifeboat raced to a report of another man entering the sea 100m east of Worthing Pier. Fortunately, the casualty had already exited the water by the time the crew arrived. Sussex Police and ambulance services took over care of the individual.
Shoreham RNLI crews showed impressive commitment, keeping watch and ready across multiple incidents in a short time span. Their quick responses helped save lives and keep local waters safe.
