No Fixed Abode Burglar Nabbed After Eight Raids in 2022
Serial Burglar Jailed for 4½ Years
Mark Griffiths, 57, with no fixed address, has been locked up for four and a half years. On February 3, he was sentenced after pleading guilty to a series of eight burglaries across the region in 2022.
Dog Walkers’ Homes Targeted
Griffiths struck while homeowners were out walking their dogs. Two daylight raids hit Wavell Road and Millbrook Road in Salisbury during October alone, with high-value items stolen from empty properties.
Police Pin Burglary on Forensic Evidence
On November 29, Wiltshire Police’s Fortitude Team caught Griffiths red-handed in Melksham. He had just burgled a house in Winchester, but was found inside by the returning homeowner. Forensic evidence linked him to the Millbrook Road break-in as well.
Detective Slams Burglar’s Callous Tactics
DC Mark Welch of the Fortitude Team said: “Burglary is one of the most impactful crimes on victims as it invades the privacy and sanctity of the home, a place where people should feel safest.
“It can have a lasting impact and it is crucial that these offences are thoroughly investigated and offenders brought to justice. Griffiths was a serial burglar and often waited until he knew the owners were out of the house before entering. I’m pleased that he will now be behind bars.”
